“Thank you really much for our wonderful stay. The cooking was delicious! The shooting and everything else was a great experience. We wish you all the best. You are the best hosts!”
It is no surprise that Hawke’s Bay is the home of food tourism with names like ‘The Fruitbowl’ not too distance in its past.
Not only does that relate to the many horticultural and farming enterprises that have thrived in our warm fertile climate, but increasingly, the regions local artisans and gourmet food producers have been taking the limelight. With a dynamic Farmers Market each week in Hastings and Napier, an active Food Trail and a steady stream of food type events across the year, Hawke’s Bay is heaven to the foodie. Everyone is happy to share their secret recipe or ingredient and most importantly, you can sample the ‘freshness’ that we are known for.
Let the belt out a notch or two and come prepared to savour…
Dinner at The Manse is on request and can range from 2 to 5 courses…..
The Menu is daily fresh and put together in person with yourselfs. Gary will then prepare a meal that you will never forget in the beautiful surroundings of The Manse. Or you can help him prepare the meal and take a tour with him through the veggie garden and sample the produce that comes from The Manse’s own livestock.
Cooking Courses are available on request, and let Gary teach you the secrets of the Restaurant Kitchen or learn the way beef, fish, poultry and seafood should be handled and prepared….this is done with hands on tuition and can result in you prepairing and cooking your own meal……
The lesson can be combined with a visit to the Farmer’s Market in either Napier (on Saturday) or Hastings (on Sunday) or join Gary in choosing the ingredients for the dinner at the local suppliers.
You will pick up practical simple cooking skills and learn more about ingredients and create an inspired seasonal three-course menu in no time. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned cook, it’s an ideal way to learn new things and have fun.
Included in the cooking lesson is a goody bag with The Manse produce.
Vicky Roebuck, the Communications Manager for Hawke’s Bay Tourism, wrote the following article: “French Flair goes down a treat – if you feel your cooking lacks that special touch, it’s time to visit The Manse”.
