Feel the magic as you arrive at The Manse, and enter this elegant Hawke’s Bay luxury lodge. A rare gem offering opulence and tranquillity a short drive from Havelock North, Hastings and Napier, and bordering the renowned Gimblett Gravels and Ngatarawa wine regions.
In addition to its intimate setting where your privacy is assured, we boast generous views and facilities that will allow you the room and freedom to unwind, take in the local attractions or just disappear for a few days by the pool.

More recently, the home’s facilities have been fully modernised to allow guests to do as little or much as they wish.
The Manse is an exclusive country retreat where each guests experience will be fully tailored to their specific requirements, we only cater for up to 4 adult guests to ensure that we provide you with the perfect stay at our boutique lodge.
Your hosts: Dietske and Gary (we speak English, Dutch, German, French)
Loved, loved, loved this property! Rural location with beautiful views, beautiful house with only 2 rooms. Well furnished/decorated with very good attention to detail. What really made me love this property was the hosts. Dietske and Gary are amazing! Before arriving I wasn’t sure what to expect (was thinking of Greenmantle owners) but I instantly felt at home in their home and they said that’s exactly what they wanted for their guests. Dietske knows NZ back to front and pronounces Maori words perfectly, very impressive! Between them they speak several languages, cook gourmet food, look after their farm animals, run golf tours and I’m sure there is more that I’ve forgotten. This is a perfect spot for a couple of relaxing nights and I wouldn’t hesitate in booking it.
I can’t imagine a better experience
We were lucky enough to spend 2 nights at The Manse. Our time with Gary and Dietske was truly one of the highlights of our time in New Zealand.
This is a small two bedroom luxury inn that includes a working farm. Gary who is the owner and chef takes “farm to table” to a new level as most things we ate during our time there came from their gardens, fields or animals. The food was to die for. Their extremely comfortable country home was stylishly decorated and offered all of the amenities you would find in a five star resort.
If I could give it 7 stars I would. It is a gift to have been hosted by such fine people in their fabulous inn. We would highly recommend this experience and would stay there again if we ever again are in the area.
WOW What a Place...
The Manse had to be one of the highlights of our NZ trip. The property is spectacular, the owners Dietske and Gary are two of the most amazing B & B hosts you will find. Their home is beautiful and every attention to detail is felt the moment you enter the front door. Then the food!!! Gary is a Master Chef and prepared the most amazing dinners with wine pairing. And breakfast wasn’t too shabby neither…Fantastic. The passion that they put into every moment you stay with them is absolutely amazing. Do NOT miss staying here if you are in the area
We had the most fabulous time at the Manse with our hosts, Gary and Dietske. They were absolutely wonderful and paid extraordinary attention to every single detail. Our room was gorgeous with a view over the valley and a window seat to enjoy the sunrise. The meals were exquisite with amazing ingredients from their beautiful farm! Gary’s golf expertise made the trip perfect for my golf obsessed husband. We hope to go back and stay again soon. I cannot recommend The Manse highly enough!
Excellent in every way - Don’t miss it!
One of the best ever travelling experiences we have ever had. We throughly enjoyed a 2 night stay with Gary and Dietske. Gary is an excellent chef and describes every dish he presents to you. Nothing is too much trouble and he has a great dry sense of humour. Wish we had him back at home. Dietske is a lovely host and makes sure everyone is very comfortable. The house is impeccably kept. Our river view room was fantastic with the best king bed I have ever slept in. Gorgeous furnishings with walkin robe and spacious ensuite with twin shower heads with lots of lovely soft hot water. The swimming pool has the most glorious views over the valley and mountains and the outside terrace was a perfect spot for pre dinner drinks and canapés. Dinner was served on the deck and the other couple from the UK made terrific dinner companions. Breakfast was in the dinning room off the gorgeous country kitchen where Gary created his fantastic meals. We thoroughly enjoyed all the animals and would definitely go back again.
Unparalleled accommodation. A must see.
This was a completely unique experience. From the moment of arrival until our departure, Dietske and Gary created a warm, memorable and comfortable stay in the delightful Hawkes Bay region. Their home is bright and welcoming. They are consummate hosts. Gary’s cuisine is unparalleled. He delights in cooking, and a dinner at the Manse is a must. Breakfasts are magnificent, homemade muesli, fresh fruit, and eggs and sausages from the property. Dietske’s touches at breakfast are terrific, a simple smoothie, a smile. Meat is Gary’s specialty, but a vegan would love what they serve. And such eggs! Guinea fowl eggs if you are lucky. Hello to Mickey, the pet pig! Recommended without hesitation or qualification.
A little unsure, but a real gem!!
It was booked for us by our travel agent. We were a little unsure when we pulled off the road, but the further we went up the drive and once we reached The Manse, we realised that it was a real gem. There are only 2 guest bedrooms, which is nice. Our room was very tasefully decorated, lovely comfortable beds, a great bathroom with a huge walk in shower.
The owners are very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. They have a large patio area a nice swimming pool and several reception rooms for the guests use. The views are spectacular as was the food we received. Gary is an excellent cook and our Christmas brunch was quite amazing. For breakfast there is quite an array of food, with bacon and eggs cooked to your order/preference.
We were only booked in for 2 nights and it was quite a wrench to leave and go to our next destination. Next time we are in New Zealand, provided that they have vacancies, this will be on our accomodation list for sure!
Lovely elevated location with excellent views, charming hosts and the most amazing food. Do not stay here and eat out. This was one of our best meals anywhere, ever ! Just two rooms, very comfortable and every attention to detail.
A real jem.
Stayed 2 nights in October on our trip around your wonderful country. Treated to a wonderful welcome, a room with everything you could wish for especially the luxurious bed and lovely bathroom. The food was exceptional, from canapés to dessert and then breakfast too and our hosts made us feel so welcome, chatting like old friends and also passing on great tips of where to visit. Thanks for a lovely stay.
